I few weeks back, I decided it was a good time to trash the things I haven't worn in a decade... t-shirts from way back when I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch (early 2000's), random free t-shirts, beaten up shoes.
While those things still sit in bags in my living room (hey, at least they're in bags)... I already started buying new things. I can't resist a great sale.
Against my better judgment, I went shopping today. I didn't spend too much money, but I *had promised myself I I'd start saving.
So off to Scottsdale I went. Madewell is offering 25% off all their sale items. I found a perfect pair of taupe suede skimmers, marked down to $39.99... so I couldn't pass those up. Adorable. Then I found a silver-tone bracelet, marked down to $19.99. I'd rather supplement the great items I already have in my closet with good accessories.
Oh, yeah.... also went to Urban Outfitters. They have a lot of great leather sandals and flats right now, so I got a pair of strappy black flat peep toes. I also found a cute owl-print v-neck t-shirt that will look great with black pants and red flats.
Now that I've scratched my itch to shop... I better wait before I buy anything else.
My goal is to piece together more adult and creative outfits for work.

Exploring new horizons... Unexpectedly, but bravely..,
To keep my story short, I had my heart broken last Friday. Luckily, I think (for the most part) I'm okay with it. There are so many things I've wanted to do and say, but I've held back because I didn't think this guy would approve. Turns out, that's true... But now, who cares?
It's my life, and I can do whatever makes me happy... I don't need anyone else's approval.
First off, I'm taking yoga classes, cause that's how I roll. Fast paced workouts just aren't my thing!
I'm going back to church this Sunday because I'm proud of my faith and my heritage.
I'm going to invest in perfume and beauty product making, because I have a passion for it. If you don't like it, go away.
I don't need unsupportive people in my life.. Just happy, positive non-judgmental souls.

I think I've cracked my skincare code... finally!
Let's see... when I was around 13 years old, I got my first pimple... and puberty didn't stop with just a few blemishes here and there! Throughout my teens, I had troubled skin. In the 90's, the products available irritated my hands and face, making my skin break out in acne and lovely rashes. I would try to use makeup to coverup my issues, but that just made the problem worse.
By the time I got the college, my complexion started clearing up a little, but I've never really been satisfied with my skin. It's taken a toll on my self-esteem through the years. It was hard to look guys in the eyes, knowing my skin was oily and congested.
Heading into adulthood, I've been blessed with adult acne, so not only do I have to deal with blemishes... still, after all these year- now, I'm trying to prevent dryness and wrinkles. But I have one thing on my side now- a job, along with money to spend on beauty products. My skincare history may have something to do with my never-ending quest to find the best beauty products, but all that testing seems to have finally paid off.
I love facials, and I've learned a lot on my special spa days. For instance, microdermabrasion may sound scary, but the process gave my complexion a good base to start over.
Any dermatologist or asthetician will tell you, if you're trying someting out, you have to stick with it for a while to see results.
Here's the skincare regimen that works for me. It took a lot of trial and error, and keep in mind, everyone's skin reacts differently to different products and treatments.
Never go to bed without removing your makeup!!!
My Morning Routine:
Weekend Skincare: Dr. Jart's Water Fuse Beauty Balm- it preps, treats blemishes, contains SPF 25 and provides light coverage. It's pretty sweet.
So good luck to you on your skincare journey! I hope you find a regimen that works for you!

Here's the skincare regimen that works for me. It took a lot of trial and error, and keep in mind, everyone's skin reacts differently to different products and treatments.
Never go to bed without removing your makeup!!!
- Every night, I start my taking off every last bit of makeup with Garnier The Refreshing Remover Cleanser towelettes. Next, I rinse, although you don't have to do that with these towelettes.
- Then, I take out my trusty Clarisonic Mia. I add warm water to the brush, then a dollop of philosophy's purity made simple one-step facial cleanser. With one press of the button, the Mia automatically counts down from a minute while I make little circles all over my face with the brush. Next, I rinse again and pat dry.
- To keep acne and blackheads at bay while reduce the appearance of fine lines, I pull out the little jar of Max Complexion Correction Pads by Peter Thomas Roth. The pads contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid, chamomile, green tea, etc. plus, they smell like a peach bellini. I let the liquid dry off on my face before moving onto the next step.
- I won't go to bed without moisturizer. Right now, I really like Ole Henrickson's Sheer Transformation creme. It's lightweight and absorbs into your skin nicely. The creme contains a vitamin c complex, licorice root and pea extract, plus- it's oil free.
- Finally, I dab a little of Origin's High Potency Night-A-Mins under my eyes.
My Morning Routine:
- When I wake up, I first take a shower. In the shower, I really just rinse my face off.
- As soon as I get out of the shower, I apply Zero Oil oil free moisture lotion by Origins. This preps my skin for the day without giving my skin an oily sheen by mid morning.
- I use a light eye cream during the day. Neutrogena makes a good, inexpensive, light multi-vitamin treatment (Healthy Skin Eye Cream).
- Finding a good foundation can be a pain in the butt, but I really like Even Better by Clinique. The texture is light and creamy, covers blemishes without feeling like spackle. Of course, I have to use the lightest shade available at Clinique. I wonder why they don't offer more fair shades (like Tarte, Too Faced, Stila, etc.)
